Escalating tensions, Israeli occupation forces assault, detain Palestinians in Bab Al-Amud

Israeli occupying forces injured at least 19 civilians in Sunday's confrontations in Bab Al-Amoud plaza, detained 3 others, one of whom is a child, and closed the Bab Al-Sahira in occupied Jerusalem after they allegedly threw stones and other objects at the colonial soldiers.

local sources reported that Israeli occupation forces stormed the Bab Al-Amoud area and chased after the young men escalating tensions, and detained a child, not yet identified, before detaining two other young men.

In turn, the Red Crescent Society in occupied Jerusalem announced that it had dealt with 19 injuries as a result of the occupation's attacks during the confrontations, noting that 4 injuries were transferred to the hospital.
In the context of defiling the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Israeli occupation's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yair Lapid, made a provocative tour of the Bab Al-Amoud Square in occupied Jerusalem.
Through these measures, the Israeli occupation authorities seek to impose a new situation in the area, which was one of the sparks of the Saif Al-Quds (Sword of Jerusalem) battle in May 2021, and aims through these measures to prevent the gathering of Jerusalemites at Bab Al-Amud, and to tighten their grips on it.

In its turn, holding the Israeli occupation authorities fully responsible for the repercussions of their raids into and assaulting Palestinians, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) stated, "we, alongside the Palestinian people, are committed to protecting Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque with all means possible."
