Twelve Palestinian detainees in “Ofer” prison have tested positive for coronavirus, Qadri Abu Bakr, the head of the Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Commission, said on Wednesday.
In a press statement, Abu Bakr explained that the Israeli prison administration shut down Section 21 in “Ofer” prison, where 160 Palestinian detainees are held, and put the infected prisoners in quarantine.
Voicing fears of a possible surge in coronavirus cases among Palestinian prisoners due to medical negligence in Israeli jails, Abu Bakr held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for their safety and wellbeing.
