Al-Qassam Website - Today marks Injured Palestinians' Day, on which the Palestinian people hail the heroic sacrifices made by the steadfast Palestinians injured through long years of resistance in the face of the genocidal Israeli occupation.
The injured Palestinians are witnesses to the atrocious crimes perpetrated by the Israeli occupation forces and colonial settlers against the Palestinian people in the occupied West Bank, Jerusalem, and the blockaded Gaza Strip.
They are also a reminder to the world of the unbearable suffering of the Palestinians due to the settler-colonial occupation government's racist policies against the Palestinian people realised by its forces and settler militias.
Fifty-five years have passed since the Day was first celebrated in occupied Palestine in 1968 to commemorate injured Palestinians and express gratitude to and appreciation for their pioneering role in the quest for liberation.
Since the occupation of Palestine in 1948, nearly a quarter of a million Palestinians have been injured by the Israeli occupation forces wounded, 130,000 of whom were during the First intifada. Thousands of Palestinians have also been injured due to the Israeli occupation's offensives against the besieged Gaza Strip, the Palestinian Ministry of Health reported.
Thousands others were also injured during the Great March of Return, whose objectives were to lift the illegal Israeli siege imposed on the Gaza Strip and grant the Palestinian refugees their right to return.
Commemorating Injured Palestinians' Day, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas asked Allah to have mercy on the souls of the Palestinian martyrs and saluted the injured Palestinians and detainees and their families.
It also reaffirmed its commitment to the option of resistance as a means to regain our legitimate rights and end the settler-colonial occupation of Palestine.
"The option of resistance will remain the strategic option in the face of the Israeli settler-colonial occupation at any cost", Hamas concluded.
