Al-Qassam Website - Today marks the seventh anniversary of the 2014 Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip in which Palestinian resistance movements, foremost among them the al-Qassam Brigades, defended their people against such assault.
During its 51-day military offensive, the Israeli occupation committed heinous massacres against the Palestinian people, killing 1,742 Palestinians and injuring thousands of others, in addition to the massive damage caused to infrastructure, public facilities, and homes; about 100,000 Palestinians were made homeless after the Israeli occupation destroyed nearly 13,217 residential units.
In light of this appalling aggression and amid the international silences on Israeli atrocities, the Palestinian resistance courageously defended its people and attempted to deter the Israeli occupation from continuing its crimes against Palestinian people.
Palestinian resistance repulses aggression
The Palestinian retaliatory response to the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip showed a significant improvement in the Palestinian fight against the occupation. The Palestinian resistance struck the Israeli occupation’s military sites and posts, attacked its forces by land and sea, and carried out unique operations behind enemy lines, where Palestinian freedom fighters struck military targets.
The Palestinian resistance responded by targeting Israeli sites and settlements in the 1948 occupied territories with homemade missiles. To prove the failure of the Israeli Iron Dome missile system, the Palestinian resistance announced beforehand that it would strike Israeli military sites and settlements.
Meanwhile, the al-Qassam Brigades carried out several special operations that confused the Israeli occupation, above all its raids against the 'Zikim' military base and 'Abu Mutaibq' military site, where the freedom fighters killed six Israeli occupation soldiers.
Palestinian raid against 'Nahal Oz' military base
On 20 July 2014, the Israeli occupation warplanes and artillery pounded Shuja'iyya neighborhood in eastern Gaza, killing up to 74 Palestinians, including 17 children and 14 women, injuring hundreds of others, and making thousands of others homeless.
Eight days later, freedom fighters managed to attack a fortified Israeli military tower in the 'Nahal Oz' military base, gunning down a number of Israeli occupation soldiers.
This heroic operation came as a shock to the Israeli occupation as it was carried out in response to the Israeli atrocities against innocent Palestinians. Video footage released by the Palestinian resistance showed how cowardly Israeli occupation forces were in the face of Palestinian freedom fighters.
The al-Qassam Brigades unveiled the homemade multi-functional UAV drones that it used for the first time during the 2014 Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip.
Captive Israeli soldiers
On 20 July 2014, Abu Obaida, the al-Qassam Brigades spokesman, declared that Israeli soldier Oron Shaul was captured from his armored personnel carrier as the Palestinian resistance was repulsing an Israeli incursion in eastern Gaza.
On 1 August 2014, Israeli soldier Hadar Goldin went missing during an exchange of fire with Israeli occupation forces east of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.
This announcement offered a ray of hope for more than 5,000 Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons and their families.
Al-Qassam warns airlines and large communities
On 11 July 2014, the al-Qassam Brigades urged all international airlines to suspend flights to the “Ben Gurion” airport, which includes the Air Force Base 27.
“Thus, we absolve ourselves of legal and moral responsibility for an injury caused to your passengers or planes while taking off from or landing at the aforementioned airport,” al-Qassam concluded.
Following the failed assassination attempt of the top commander of al-Qassam Brigades, Mohammed al-Deif, on 20 August 2014, the Palestinian resistance warned against any Israeli gathering at courts and all places within the range of Palestinian projectiles and urged the Israeli settlers living in settlements surrounding the Gaza Strip to stay in shelters, as approximately 475,000 were made homeless by the Israeli military offensive.
It has been seven years since the 2014 Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, yet Israeli assaults are still ongoing throughout the Palestinian territories, the last of which is the Israeli ongoing ethnic cleansing in the occupied Jerusalem, and the 11-day new Israeli aggression on the besieged Gaza Strip last may during which the occupation has killed 232 Palestinians, including 65 children, 39 women, and 17 elderly people, and has injured more than 1,900 others.
The Palestinian resistance, in return, continued and will continue defending its people with all means possible despite a lack of capabilities.
History has shown that people fighting for their rights always gain the upper hand even if the assailants were more powerful and well-equipped.
