The occupation forces destroy 241 Palestinian residential building and facilities

October 17, 2021

From the beginning of this year until the end of last September, the Israeli occupation forces destroyed around 241 residential buildings in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, leaving dozens of Palestinian families, including children and elderly people, displaced and homeless, the Insan Center for Democracy and Rights said on October 17.

The demolition operations have increased since the beginning of this year by 38% compared to the same period in 2020, according to European Union estimates, the center stated.

The center condemned the Israeli occupation increased demolitions and Judaization attempts in the occupied Palestinian territories, which have doubled since the beginning of this year, intending to displace Palestinians in an attempt to facilitate settlement projects and increase the presence of settlers on Palestinian lands, as is the case in occupied Jerusalem.

The center claimed that the occupation authorities systematically violate the rights of Palestinians guaranteed by international law and deprive them of the right to housing, movement, and life to carry out their plans, as well as settlement and Judaization projects.

The practices of the occupation against the Palestinians violate international humanitarian law, especially the Fourth Geneva Convention, and international resolutions issued by the Security Council and the General Assembly, which criminalize settlement operations and the displacement of members of the occupied countries, the center told.

In its warning, the Center pointed out the great threat posed by the racial practices of the occupation against Palestinians and called on concerned international and human rights organizations to intervene to protect  Palestinians from any future plans to implement the illegal annexation.

The center called on the international community to assume its responsibilities by putting pressure on the occupation to stop its plans and to stop the policy of demolition and displacement of the Palestinians.
