The Israeli occupation military launched airstrikes in the besieged  Gaza Strip after midnight on Tuesday causing shock and fear in southern the enclave.

Local sources reported that Israeli occupation forces (IOF) attacked a resistance site west of Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Strip. No injuries or damages were reported.

Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem said that "The Zionist bombing of some empty sites [is] a failed attempt to prevent our Palestinian people from defending the city of Jerusalem”.

The attack came amid escalating tensions between Palestinian freedom fighters and Israeli occupation forces, following violent confrontations in the Old City of occupied Jerusalem, and stepped up IOF attacks against citizens of the occupied West Bank.
