The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas has denounced British Prime Minister Liz Truss's statements, in which she voiced support for Zionism and the Israeli occupation. 

In a press statement Tuesday, member of Hamas Political Bureau Abroad Sami Abu Zuhri said such comments are a "continuation of Britain's crime against the Palestinian national cause," citing the Balfour Declaration, which was issued more than one hundred years ago. 

Abu Zuhri denounced such statements, which aimed at "providing cover for killing innocent children" as a "disgrace to humanity."

New British Prime Minister Liz Truss referred to herself as a "huge Zionist and a huge supporter of Israel."
