Hamas: colonial settlers' burning of Quran copies must not go unnoticed

October 10, 2022

Hamas spokesperson Abd al-Latif al-Qanou said that burning copies of the Holy Qur'an by militant Israeli settlers near a mosque in the Old City of Hebron is a heinous crime and unprecedented escalation by settlers' militias that must be answered.

Such a disgraceful racist act, he added, confirms that the Israeli occupation and colonial settlers are waging a religious war against Islam, stressing that this incident coincides with the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and provokes the feelings of Muslims.

Al-Qanou pointed out that the so-called Jewish holidays have become a significant threat to the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and an opportunity to attack our people and our sanctities.

The Hamas spokesperson called on Muslim scholars, the Arab and Islamic Ummah, and the world's free peoples to expose the Israeli occupation's crimes, lend their support to the Palestinian people, and enhance their steadfastness in the face of the occupation.
