Al-Qassam Website - Spokesperson for the Ezzedeen AL-Qassam Brigades, Abu Obaida, reiterated that the Brigades had become a hard figure in the freedom struggle against the Israeli settler-colonial occupation.
In an interview with local media outlets and news agencies on the 35th anniversary of Hamas, Abu Obaida said that Hamas’ military wing is the nucleus of the liberation army, backed by the steadfast Palestinian people.
“We are in a long-term multi-front freedom struggle against the Israeli occupation, and we use all possible means to fight,” said Abu Obaida.
When asked about the turning points in the history of the Al-Qassam Brigades, he pointed to the Eighties and Nineties when Hamas first came into being. Then he mentioned the era of the Second Intifada (2000-2005). He also pointed to the 2005-2022 period, where armed resistance against the Israeli occupation state prevailed, and the Joint Operations Room was established.
Commenting on the escalating resistance against the Israeli occupation in the occupied West Bank, Abu Obaida emphasised that it is the normal reaction to the occupying soldiers’ and colonial settlers’ aggression.
Regarding the occupation’s extremist leaders’ threats to escalate their incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque, he added that such threats are the result of the Israeli occupation leaders’ criminal mentality that requires our people and Ummah to mobilise efforts to protect the Mosque.
Speaking about the Palestinian detainees in the Israeli occupation jails, he saluted them and said that they top the Brigades’ priority and that “we make every endeavour to release them.”
Under the intransigence of the Israeli occupation to reach a prisoner swap deal, the Al-Qassam spokesperson reiterated that the occupation would regret this and that “all options are open.”
