The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas has mourned the death of 21-year-old Palestinian martyr Ahmed Abu Jneid, who had passed away due to critical injuries by the Israeli occupation forces during a pre-dawn raid into the Balata refugee camp in the occupied West Bank city of Nablus.

In a press statement, the Hamas movement said: "As we offer our condolences to the martyr’s family and loved ones, we stress that our Palestinian people will continue to defend themselves and the Al-Aqsa Mosque until ending the occupation and liberating Palestinian Muslim and Christian holy sites."

Hamas reaffirmed that resisting the occupation is a legitimate right for Palestinians in their quest for freedom as stipulated in UN Resolution 37/43, dated December 3, 1982, which reaffirms “the legitimacy of the struggle of peoples for independence, territorial integrity, national unity and liberation from colonial and foreign domination and occupation by all available means, including armed struggle.”
