Occupation Forces Fail to Achieve their Declared Objectives in the north of the Gaza Strip and Withdraw. An Assault on the Eastern Outskirts of Gaza is Resisted from the Onset

 

The detailed statement of today's operations are:

 

Palestinian resistance factions have made the Zionist occupation forces venture into the open areas of the northern Gaza Strip a very difficult task. The declared objective of reducing the firing of rockets at enemy targets was not fulfilled. On the contrary, resistance factions, led by Ezzedeen Al-Qassam Brigades have doubled the number of rockets fired at these targets during the occupation army's failed operation.

 

On Saturday and Sunday (July 8-9, 2006), the "Faithfulness of the Free" campaign continued. Ezzedeen Al-Qassam Brigades mujahideen fired 6 mortars at an occupation tanks gathering station to the east of Gaza. In addition, they fired a Yassin rocket at an occupation bulldozer and detonated a "Shewath" bomb against another. Also, the mujahideen fired 5 Qassam rockets against occupation settlements and installations outside the Strip. The most notable bombardment was against the settlement of Sderot, injuring 4 settlers. Three mujahideen were martyred over the past 24 hours.
