UN: Israeli expansion of settlements is a clear violation of IHL

UN special coordinator for Middle East peace process Nickolay Mladenov stated that " Israeli expansion of settlements in the West Bank is a clear violation of International Humanitarian Law".

Mladenov stressed that building new settlement units in the Palestinian lands is illegal and null.

" These illegal actions should be stopped instantly," said Mladenov.

It is worth noting that Israeli occupation forces approved building thousands of settlements in occupied West Bank according to Peace Now Movement.

" Israeli occupation approved on building 2300 settlement units in occupied West Bank since Trump's presidency in 2017", According to a report issued by Peace Now Movement.

Although UN resolutions condemning building settlements in West Bank, Israeli occupation forces still violating International Humanitarian Law and establishing more illegal settlements in Area C.

In 2016, the United Nations Security Council issued resolution NO. (2334) which calls to stop building new settlements in occupied West Bank and Jerusalem immediately.
